Product fields

Fields of your own for every product, such as author, artist or vintage, in eight kinds, and how the product page, the products list and your shop's catalog use them.

Plan Pro

Esta página aún no está traducida. Se muestra en inglés; todo lo que describe funciona igual en tu idioma.

Every product has a name, a price and a description. Fields of your own add what your kind of goods needs on top: the author and the publisher of a book, the artist and the technique of a picture, the vintage of a wine. You make them once for the whole shop, and every product form then has them.

Product fields are a Pro feature; see on the Free plan for what happens to them there.

Making the fields

Settings → Products, then Add field. Each field has:

  • a Name, which the product page prints in front of the value, exactly as you write it
  • a Kind, which decides what the value can be (table below)
  • for a Number, an optional Unit printed after it ("320 pages")
  • for a Choice or a Multiple choice, its Choices, one per line, 50 at the most
  • the switch Show on the product page
  • the switch Show on the product card, for a field the product page shows, of every kind but a long text (see On the product cards)
  • the switch Offer as a filter in the shop, for every kind but a long text and a link (see Filters in your shop)

A shop has up to 12 fields. The arrows on each field put them in the order the product page lists them, and Save changes stores them, as in every section of the settings.

KindWhat a product holdsOn the product page
TextOne line, up to 200 characters. As written.
Long textA paragraph with line breaks, up to 2000 characters.Under its name, line breaks kept.
NumberA number, with decimals if needed. In your shop's number format, the unit after it.
DateA day.Written out in your shop's language.
Yes / NoYes, no, or nothing stated."Yes" or "No" in your shop's language.
ChoiceOne of the field's choices. The choice.
Multiple choiceAny number of the field's choices. The choices, separated by commas.
LinkA web address.A link that opens in a new tab.

A link takes http:// and https:// addresses only; one typed without them gets https:// in front.

Filling them in

Every product form has the card Your own fields under the product's information, above the variants: one input per field, as its kind asks. Fill in what fits the product and leave the rest empty. An empty field shows nowhere, so a book shop can have a "Translator" field that only translated books fill in. Manage fields on the card opens the settings section.

The values belong to the product, not to a variant: every variant of a book has the same author. Copy Product copies them with the rest.

What your customers see

The product page shows every filled field, in the order of the settings, under the heading "Details" in your shop's language:

  • the product information block lists them beside the price and the buy button, as a list, as cards or as a section to unfold, in the style its design draws its other facts in
  • the product details block lists them with the brand, the category and the SKU, in the designs that show those

In the designer, each block's switch hides them along with its other facts: Show Product Info on the product information block, Show Facts on the product details block.

Names, values and choices are printed as you wrote them and are never translated.

A field with Show on the product page switched off stays in every product form and the product page leaves it out. That is a choice about the page, not a lock: do not keep anything in such a field that must stay secret.

On the product cards

A field with Show on the product card switched on is printed on the product cards of your grids and lists as well, as one short line under the name: "Date: 24 October 2026", "Artist: Anna Keller". Every card design has room for it; a value longer than the line is cut at its end, and a link prints as its address, since the card itself opens the product. The lines stand in the order of the settings, so put the field that matters most first.

In the designer, the switch Card Show Product Fields in the Cards box of a grid's or list's Style tab hides them on that block.

Filters in your shop

The product lists in your shop that have a search and a sort, products lists 01, 04, 05 and 06, let your visitors filter and sort by every field with Offer as a filter in the shop switched on. The switch starts on for a number, a date, a yes/no field, a choice and a multiple choice, and off for a text, which often has as many values as you have products. A long text and a link cannot be filters.

Each field gets a section of its own among the list's filters, headed by its name and its unit: in the sidebar beside the categories, or in the panel the filter button opens, as the list's design has it.

  • a text, a choice and a multiple choice show the values your products hold, each with how many products have it; a visitor ticks one or several, and a product shows when it has one of them. A text shows its 40 most frequent values.
  • a number has a from and a to, with your products' lowest and highest value in the empty boxes
  • a date has a from and a to, each with a date picker
  • a yes/no field offers yes and no; a product with nothing stated counts as no

A link under the filters takes every field filter off again.

The sort select adds two orders per field: A to Z and Z to A for a text and a choice, low to high and high to low for a number, oldest and newest first for a date. Products that leave the field empty come last. A yes/no field and a multiple choice do not sort.

The filters offer only what the products the list may show hold: the published ones, and on a list with Products shown only those. A field that no product has filled in is left out, and so is a yes/no field that every product answers alike. On the products page the list keeps the chosen filters in the page's address, as it does its category, so a visitor who goes back from a product finds them again and a shared link opens them.

The shop's search box finds a product by the words of its text, long text, choice and multiple choice fields too, those the product page shows.

Show Field Filters in the Style tab of a list block switches the field filters and the field orders off for that list.

A field with Show on the product page switched off and the filter on shows its values among the filters all the same; the section says so under the switch.

In product blocks

A product grid or products list block can show only the products whose fields say so: a shelf of oil paintings, the books of one author, the wines from 2015 on. Products shown at the top of the block's Style tab has a part Your own fields under the categories and the products. The select at its foot adds a rule by a field, and each rule gets a box of its own:

  • a text, a choice and a multiple choice: tick one or several values; a product needs one of them
  • a number and a date: a from and a to, either of which may stay empty
  • a yes/no field: yes or no; a product with nothing stated counts as no

A product shown through its category, or through the whole catalogue when no category is chosen, has to match every rule. Picked products always show, rules or not. The cross on a box removes its rule. Every field can be a rule, except a long text and a link, whether it is offered as a filter in the shop or not.

The catalogue lists can also open sorted by a field: Default sort in the same place offers the two orders of every field the shop's filters sort by. It needs the list's field filters; with Show Field Filters off the list opens newest first.

The AI assistant sets these rules by itself when you ask it for such a block, or for a page with one, using your fields and the values your products hold.

In the products list

The products list shows your fields too, as columns of its views. Columns offers each one under Your own fields, headed by its name; a cell shows the product's value, and Export list (CSV) writes the same column. Under + Filter each field filters the way its kind asks:

  • Contains for a text, a long text and a link
  • a from and a to for a number and a date
  • Yes or No for a yes/no field; a product with nothing stated counts as no
  • a box per choice for a choice and a multiple choice; a product with several choices shows when one of them is ticked
  • Is empty and Is not empty for a text, a long text, a link, a number and a date

A click on a column's heading sorts by the field, except for a long text and a multiple choice. The list shows every field, those with Show on the product page switched off included. For the product lists in your shop, see Filters in your shop.

Edit turns these columns into fields too, as it does the other columns: a line for a text or a link, a number with its unit beside it, a day, yes, no or nothing for a yes/no field, a choice, and a small panel of boxes for a multiple choice. A field belongs to the product, so a change shows on all of its rows. What the product form refuses turns red here too, such as a number that is no number. A long text stays as it is in the list; change it in the product form, which keeps its line breaks.

The AI and search engines

The AI Photo Upload fills in your fields as well, where the photo or the context prompt says what they hold: the technique of a painting it can see, a colour, a title printed on a cover, or the artist the prompt names for the whole batch. What the photo cannot tell stays empty, since a guessed value would show on the product page as a fact. A choice gets one of the field's choices, and a text the spelling your products already use. A link is never filled in. Check the fields of every draft along with its price.

Your product pages tell search engines and AI assistants about every field they show: each one is part of the page's structured data, and the shop's /llms.txt lists it beside the product. A field with Show on the product page switched off is in neither.

Changing or removing a field

  • Renaming a field keeps every value; the product page prints the new name.
  • Changing its kind keeps the values that fit the new kind. The others, a text in a field that is now a number, no longer show and go the next time the product is saved; the section says so under the kind before you save.
  • Renaming or removing a choice leaves the products that have it alone: the product page still shows the old choice, and the product form offers it until you pick another.
  • Removing a field takes it off every product page and every product form at once. Its values go the next time each product is saved.

On the Free plan

On Free, the section Products in the settings shows the Pro offer instead of the fields. Fields you made on Pro are kept, and so are their values: the product form and the products list still show them and you can still fill them in, but the product page and the product cards show none of them, the AI Photo Upload fills none in, and your shop neither filters, sorts nor searches by them, until the shop is on Pro again. A product block with rules by your fields shows what it would show without them, and a list that opens sorted by a field opens newest first. Nothing has to be set up again after an upgrade.
