Lists and views

Your own views of the products list — which columns, which filters, the sort and the rows per page — saved in your shop.

Esta página aún no está traducida. Se muestra en inglés; todo lo que describe funciona igual en tu idioma.

The products list shows itself through views. A view decides which columns the list has and in what order, which filters apply, how the list is sorted and how many rows a page shows. The tabs above the filters are your views; the first one, Default, shows the list as it always looked.

Views are saved in your shop, so they are the same on every device you sign in on. Which view is open is remembered per browser: your laptop can open a narrow view while the big monitor opens a wide one. The open view also stands in the address, so a bookmark or a link opens exactly that view.

Changing a view

The filters, a click on a column heading, Columns and the rows per page change the list at once. The tab then carries a star: changed, not saved yet. Three buttons appear beside the tabs:

  • Save writes the change into the open view.
  • Save as new view makes a new view of what the list shows and leaves the open one as it was saved.
  • Discard changes goes back to the saved view.

Until you decide, the change is kept in this browser, so a reload or a look at a product does not lose it. The search box belongs to no view: it applies to whichever view is open until you clear it.

Columns

Columns in the filter row opens a window in two parts. On top are the columns the view shows, in their order: drag a row by its grip or use the arrows, and take a column out with its cross. Below, under More fields, are the 37 fields a column can show, in six groups and with a search box — among them the vendor, the tags, the VAT rate, the weight, the supplier's article number, the texts for search engines and the variant's own dates. A short line under a field says what it counts where the name alone does not. Apply puts the choice into the list; like every other change it is kept with Save.

A view keeps at least one column. The trash can at the end of a row is not a column and always stays.

Filters

The filter row keeps what it always had: the search box, Category, Status and Show archived. Every other field the list can filter by is under + Filter — 34 of them, in the same six groups as under Columns and with a search box. Pick a field, and the tool that fits it opens:

  • a box per value for a choice: the product type, the tax category, the billing interval;
  • Yes or No for a switch: published, featured, one of a kind, tracking stock and the like;
  • a from and a to for an amount, a count or a date. Either end may stay empty: a price from 20 is every price of 20 and more. A date counts as the whole day on the shop's clock;
  • Contains for a text — the name, the SKU, the tags — whatever its case;
  • Is empty and Is not empty where a field can be left blank: products without a barcode, or with a compare-at price.

Type an amount the way you write it: 12.50, 12,50 and 1'250 all work. Apply sets the filter. It then stands as a chip under the filter row and says what it keeps — "Price: from 20". Click the chip to change the filter, its cross to remove it. Filters add up: a product shows only if it passes every one of them and the search.

Filters belong to the view, like its columns: they change the list at once and are kept with Save. The four tiles over the list, the number of pages and Export count exactly the products the filters leave. The round arrow at the end of the filter row, Reset filters, clears the search and every filter; when no product matches, the list says so and offers the same button.

Rows per page

The select left of the page buttons offers 25, 50, 100 or 200 rows per page, and the number is part of the view. Phones show no select; the view's number applies there too.

New views and the tab menu

New view beside the tabs asks for a name and makes a view of the list as it is on screen (Create view). Unsaved changes of the open view move into the new one. A list keeps up to 10 views, Default included.

The open tab has a small arrow that opens its menu:

  • Rename
  • Duplicate — a copy of the view as it is saved.
  • Move left and Move right — or drag the tab.
  • Restore original — on Default once you changed or renamed it: back to the columns, filters, sort and name it came with.
  • Delete view — removes the view, never a product. The last view of a list cannot be deleted.

Exporting

Export downloads the list as the open view shows it: its columns in its order, its filters, sort and search, and every row over all pages, not only the page on screen. Column names and the words in the cells are in your dashboard's language, dates and times on the shop's clock, and amounts are plain numbers a spreadsheet can add up.

Column widths

Widths you drag are remembered per view, per shop and per browser, as in every big list. Default keeps the widths you dragged before views existed.
